I am team "service data is stored in /srv/" btw, how about you?
@schmittlauch Slightly related fun fact: If you set the partition type of an unformatted partition to "Linux server data", Debian (and possibly others) will fail to boot. Apparently, the partition type alone is reason enough to try to mount it, and - failing that - go into rescue mode. 🙄
@fnord like, of any unformatted partition, even if it's not the root partition and not in the fstab?
@schmittlauch Yes! Otherwise I woudln't have been so surprised. (And annoyed, because of course you don't have sshd in rescue mode.) Took me a while to figure out what was wrong.
@schmittlauch more /opt but also /home.
@schmittlauch I'm not, but come to think of it, it might be a good idea to change that.
